In 2004, brothers Curt and Randy Bright formed a family-friendly band called The String Beans. With a target audience of pre-school through elementary-aged kids as well as their parents and teachers, The Beans popularity and the number of their performances has grown by leaps and bounds.
Their music is a fun mix of rock, country, blues, pop, polka and rap. String Beans songs are all about the stuff kids love—dinosaurs, sports, animals, food and fun. Many of the songs are educational and teach children about the alphabet, antonyms, reading and Nebraska history.
In 2005, The String Beans released two CD's, Gophers in Loafers and Oodles of Noodles. Both CD's are filled with original, silly songs. In 2006, The Beans released their third CD, Rocking Your Christmas Stocking, a collection of original holiday songs. Their fourth CD, Crazy Critter Baby Sitter hit the stores in November of 2007, including fourteen original songs about shoelaces, stargazing pigs, Harry Potter and many other topics close to kids’ hearts.
In the Summer of 2010, String Bean Curt, with the additional vocal and music talents of Daniel Christian and Rod Koehler, released Bean It Like You Mean It. From fireflies to sock monkeys, Hula Hoops to a princess slumber party, this 12-song cd captures the feeling of childhood fun and adventure.
Over the past six years, The String Beans have performed for a variety of venues, including: The 2008 Governors Arts Awards Ceremony, The Lied Center for Performing Arts (FamFest 2007 and Free at 6, 2006), Lincoln Children's Museum (2008, 2009, 2010 Music & Mozzerella), Omaha Children's Museum, Jazz in June 2006, 2007 and 2008, The 2007 Omaha Arts Festival, 2007 Taste of Omaha, The 2006 and 2008 Nebraska State Fair, Omaha's River City Round Up, Lincoln Children's Zoo (Boo at the Zoo), Westfield Shoppingtown Gateway Mall (Lincoln), Village Pointe Mall (Omaha), South Pointe Pavilions Mall (Lincoln) Nebraska Public Libraries, schools, daycares, County Fairs, bookstores, coffee houses, churches, Lincoln Haymarket Farmer's Market, Kansas City's City Market, Home & Garden Shows, radio—B107.3, Froggy 98 and KFOR, charity events—Hy-Vee Roof Camp for Juvenille Diabetes, JDRF Walk, Buddy Walk for Families with Down Syndrome, Dog N Jog, July Jamm 2004 & 2006, Octoberfest 2005 (Upstream Brewing Company, Omaha) the Plainsong Folk Festival as well as many others.
