In the beginning there were two. Curt and Randy wore cowboy hats and bandanas. Curt played guitar, and Randy did magic tricks between songs. We released our first album, Gophers in Loafers.
A year later the band became a trio with the addition of Freddy. The Beans wore Hawaiian shirts. Randy traded his magic ropes for a kazoo, and we released our second album, Oodles of Noodles.
For a brief time there were four String Beans. Vicki sang with us at the Lied Center for Performing Arts. We each wore a different colored t-shirt with our new logo on the front. We celebrated the release of our third CD, Rocking Your Christmas Stocking.
In 2009, we released our fourth album, Crazy Critter Baby Sitter, and in August of that year the band broke up. There were zero String Beans. We hung up our tie-dye shirts for good.
Or so we thought…
Almost a year after the band shut down, Curt released the fifth String Bean album, Bean It Like You Mean It. Now there is one String Bean.
But who knows? Maybe some day there will be more. I wonder what we'll wear.
